Chapter 8

Hannah

Hannah woke up and lay in bed feeling happy. She thought about the night of intimacy she had had with Kane. She reflected on their past one-night stand and realized that their connection had come full circle, leading to a deeper and more meaningful relationship. When she and Kane spent that first night together years ago, it was great and memorable, but last night, she felt all his love pour into her. She’d never felt that way before.

Kane was still sleeping next to her. She got out of bed quietly, making sure not to wake him. She went into the bathroom and took a nice, long hot shower. When she got out, she put on a tank top and a pair of shorts. She wanted to be comfortable since she didn’t have to leave the house today. Kane’s brother, Kai, was supposed to bring Kaiden home later. She went to her room door and saw that Kane was still asleep.

Hannah went into the living room and opened the curtains but left the blinds closed. She turned on the tree because she loved to see it with the lights on. She couldn’t believe how many gifts were under the tree. Kaiden was going to have the best Christmas ever. Hannah purchased him a lot of things, but so did his grandparents, his dad, and his uncle.

Hannah went into the kitchen and started to prepare breakfast for herself and Kane. She was in a really good mood that morning, so she cooked a big spread. She had a pot of coffee on and had the Motown classics playing low so it wouldn’t wake Kane up. Hannah sat down at the kitchen table, drinking her coffee, when she heard Kane go in the bathroom. She waited until he turned the water off then made his plate. Soon as she finished, he came into the kitchen.

When he came in, their affectionate reunion was marked by a deep kiss and a playful smack on her ass. Further igniting their chemistry.

They both sat down to eat breakfast together. While they were eating and talking, Kane asked Hannah about Christmas wishes. He asked her what three things she would want if she could have anything.

Hannah answered immediately that her greatest wish was for their son to be happy.

Kane quicky reminded her that she no longer needed to be sacrificial or in survival mode since she was now dating a boss. He encouraged her to think about her own desires and happiness. In a gesture of support, Kane grabbed a pen and paper, urging Hannah to write down her wishes.

Hannah wasn’t sure where Kane was going and why he wanted her to write it down. The wishes she had she knew were impossible. Especially her main wish that she’d prayed for all her life. She decided to go along with it and started thinking. After a few minutes of thinking, she started writing them down. Just as she finished, Kane received a text from his brother, Kai.

“Baby, Kai and Kaiden just pulled up in the parking lot.
